Accra, Ghana: Misgana Wakuma successfully defended his men’s 20km race walk title at the 2026 African Athletics Championships in Accra, winning his second straight continental gold medal.
Wakuma delivered another strong performance to remain Africa’s top race walker and continue an outstanding 2026 season. His title defense comes shortly after making history with a silver medal at the World Athletics Race Walking Team Championships.
With back-to-back African titles, Wakuma continues to strengthen his place among Ethiopia’s rising stars in athletics.
